Xinjiang Electric Power Corporation, during it’s news release on May 31, 2012, issued the 2011 Social Responsibility Report of Guodian Xinjiang Electric Power Corporation, the first social responsibility report. The representatives from both the power generators and large accounts as well as journalists from State Media in Xinjiang and local mainstream media attended the news press.
The report was completed with the supervision and guidance of the technical experts of World Center for Certification & Quality Certification Dept., which included surveying, planning, preparing, and other procedures. The collection of sufficient data and cases was used to effectively determine the political, economic, and social responsibilities of the company, to live up to it’s exemplary role as a central state-owned company.
It is the first social responsibility report for Xinjiang Electric Power as well as being the first time that World Center for Certification & Quality has provided this service for any power companies of State Grid. According to a World Center for Certification & Quality expert, the report indicates that companies in Western China have entered the “matured stage” – a stage which targets fulfilling social responsibilities and realizing the importance of the sustainable development for modern companies, especially the resource-based companies.
One focus of this report was placed on integrating the requirements for fulfilling the social responsibilities into the mission, strategies, operation, and culture of the company; the other was placed on requirements for safety, high efficiency, environmental preservation, and harmony were incorporated into the full process of actual construction and operation of the grid.
In the future, World Center for Certification & Quality will continue to cooperate with Xinjiang Electric Power and other provincial power companies in preparation, verification, and other forms of assistance related to the social responsibility reports every year. It shows the intention, activities, and performance of State Grid and the local power companies in creating economical, social, and environmental values. |
