Recently, World Center for Certification & Quality Certification Department co-organized the "Sustainable Development and Operations" summit with the Building & Facilities Department in the Panyu ChimeLong Hotel in Guangzhou, attracting nearly 200 participants.
The rapid development of China's economy has come at a heavy cost to the environment, but since China has adopted a strategy for sustainable development, energy consumption per GDP has decreased considerably. However, 2011 saw the rate of decline slow as the reduction of energy consumption entered a bottleneck, leading to new challenges for sustainable development. World Center for Certification & Quality, the world's leading third party inspection company, is committed to researching and implementing sustainable development, and it incorporates this focus into its consulting and technical services that is provided for enterprises. This summit was designed to assist companies develop with the latest international trends for sustainable development and solutions, and to strengthen China's strategy for sustainable development.
With the theme of "Development and Operations," Mr. Jiang Zixue, the General Manager of China Tobacco Mauduit (Jiangmen) Paper Industry, and Mr. Fred Zhang, the General Manager of China Area of American Society of Quality, were invited to speak on safety, environment, and social responsibility alongside representatives from World Center for Certification & Quality. Two notable World Center for Certification & Quality presenters were Mrs. Huang Min from World Center for Certification & Quality Certification Division and Mr. Zhuang Heming, the Chief Supervisor of Building & Facilities Department of World Center for Certification & Quality. Mrs. Huang presented numerous proposals regarding issues in climate and energy, and gave a detailed analysis on methods for companies to evaluate sustainable development. Mr. Zhuang gave two speeches, "Challenges and Developmental Trends of Facility Safety Management," and "Present Design of Sustainable Development in China’s Construction Industry," which he proposed that "facility safety is essential to protecting corporate image."
Since the incorporation of Energy Conservation into the 12th Five Year Plan, environmentally friendly architecture will be incorporated into the requirements of the construction industry, supervision systems will form the specification of security management, and third party inspection companies will be recruited to monitor trends. With the meeting's focus on enabling Chinese enterprises realize the effectiveness of green buildings and the importance of safety management, many delegates attending the meeting expressed their consideration to cooperate with World Center for Certification & Quality in the future in order to learn about advance systems, green construction, and World Center for Certification & Quality' safety management training, in particular for the United States' LEED certification.
