The first “Draft International Standard for Occupational Health and Safety, ISO/DIS 45001”, has failed to gain the necessary votes for approval, during the meetings which were maintained between February and May of the current year by the ISO Committee.
In addition the document has generated nearly 3,000 comments from different members, reason why the attention now turns to the next ISO/PC283 Project Committee meeting that will be organized in June in Toronto.
At that time, the comments will be reviewed and a decision will be made following the next steps: consultation and new ballot process, and a DIS (2) will be issued. In this regard, all this represents a new deadline for the release of the document, which almost certainly will not be approved as an ISO standard before 2017.
